Soft shoes are called ghillies. These are soft soled shoes similar to ballet slippers. Beginners start out wearing soft shoes.

More advanced dancers start to learn hard shoe steps. Hard shoes are similar to tap shoes, with a hard tip and heel. The tip and heel are used to create different rhythms.

A feis is an Irish Dance competition.

Oireachtas is a regional competition that dancers who qualify compete at annually.

-School Dress |
A school dress is the costume that beginners wear that usually has the school logo or knot on it.

-Solo Dress |
A solo dress is the costume that more advanced dancers wear. The costume is no the same as anyone else's and the dancer gets to chose the colors and design.
